Former perennial ACC football doormat Duke and former ACC powerhouse Clemson meet for the first time since 2008. Hard to believe. Duke was always the homecoming game. Anyway, what to expect in 2012? Probably a huge butt-kicking by Clemson. However, Duke has already become Bowl Eligible for the first time in...well, forever...under Head Coach David Cuttcliffe and the Blue Devils may give the Tigers a hard time, especially if Clemson's suspect pass defense cannot reel in Duke's passing game. Also, Duke is 5-0 at home this season. Hmmm. Won't matter.
KEYS TO THE GAME: Clemson has to shut down Duke Senior QB Sean Renfree and All-Universe, ACC Record Setter, Anglo-American, Wide Receiver Connor Vernon (pictured above). I just don't see Clemson being able to survive a West Virginia vs. Texas style shoot out. Shut down the pass (the heart of their "Triangle Offense") early and the Blue Devils will fold.

LOL! this post is so much like the old Block-C days! great job, I really miss them. I am actually going up to the game in Durham today and wanted to check in before i left. now i knw to watch out fr connor vernan the PIMP! GO TIGERS!
ReplyDeleteHey, "Anonymous" I don't think I would step on TheDaboKoolAid's toes by speaking for both of us and saying thanks. Hope you enjoyed the blow-out in person!
ReplyDeleteRegarding our old stomping grounds at "Block-C," the website itself is now completely gone; nothing left but a fishy looking "coming soon" page.
Just my opinion now: "Block-C" was great while it lasted, but even before they shut it down, it had started to suck. Those weekly boring previews written by "Sambo" that went on forever...jeez, that was horrid. I think other things got in their way and Chili and Willy Mac just lost interest. Still, it was sad to see it go out like that. Kind of like Kenny Stabler before he finally hung up his cleats.
Anyway, we are still around and still committed to turning out semi-quality material on a semi-regular basis! Keep coming back and tell your friends.
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI liked the Sambo articles about his crazy nephew. Before Block-C hit off, we had the Sporting Gnomes and the same thing happened to us. You end up getting married, having kids, working, etc . . . blogs become much more difficult to maintain. I just wished they hadn't shut down the forums. I really enjoyed talking to everyone. At the time, I was living in Greenville, NC and was pretty starved for other Clemson fan's company.
Went to the Game. It was what it should always be.
Hey Lawtonfunk! Good to see you here.
ReplyDeleteJust a point of clarification regarding Sambo on Block-C: I have to admit that I enjoyed the stories about his nephew too. What I didn't like was the endless "FOOTBAWL" articles he posted. Those were awful.
Yeah, I hated it when they shut down the forums, but I guess Willy Mac had to divert that time to 4-wheelin' and chasing Lizard Man or whatever the hell he was into at the time. I think I read that Chili died in China or something. Damn shame. The kid could write a mean thread when he wanted to. Ah, well.
